Lol, late reply haha xDįPS lower than display refresh rate? Since the OP I've gotten an ASUS VG248QE 144hz display and tearing is never noticeable, likewise with 60Hz displays (depending on your particular display model + refresh rate) if you pull <=60FPS you'll almost never see screen tearing or need Vsync.

Yeah I understand screen tearing but I never get it in any games, I'm not too sure why because I never have VSync enebled. VSync has been the conventional solution for many years, and forces the GPU to only render as many frames as the monitor can read (note "sync"). Solutions like GSync and DisplayPort's sync exist, which make the monitor refresh the display exactly when the GPU is done drawing, meaning no screen tearing or stuttering (supposedly feels nicer). 60hz or 120hz), the monitor stumbles over the frames. It occurs because your GPU and monitor share the same buffer for the display: when the GPU writes more frames per second to this buffer than your monitor can read (e.g. This happens quite fast, but is extremely annoying. Typically you'll feel like the frames displayed are "torn" and shifted left or right. Screen tearing is basically two frames shown at once on your display.
